It is a lot different than the LAX. It's so smooth there, the way you drive in, drop off and drive out. The car rental place is a container turned into the office for all car rental agencies. It's cool and cozy. Not 1 problem for me. 5 stars and highly recommend.
Layout is unique, depart and board on tarmac. TSA staff leave a lot to be desired. Airport reps very helpful. Not a lot of breakfast or food options in the morning.
Arriving at LGB was a journey most serene, young Padawan! 🛸 Deplaning upon the tarmac, I felt the Force guiding me—an experience both rare and personal. This small but mighty spaceport offers swift luggage retrieval and a tranquil outdoor pavilion within its walls. A most effortless and delightful voyage it was! ✨🔵
About 30 minutes from LAX by fast cab on a weekend afternoon. It is smaller and much easier to navigate. Ticketing and bag drop are in one building; the security checkpoints are in another, and the gates are in another. One walks outside between them. It's a short paved walk. Each building has restrooms. Restaurants are past security, in the gate buildings. Clean utilitarian restrooms, but they are large. One boards their plane outside on the pavement by stairs and inclined walkways. Help is available for passengers with mobility needs. Friendly and relaxed.
Very convenient tiny airport. The TSA staff is the friendliest I have seen among those in many airports. TSA lines are short. The gates waiting area is cramped though.
