Typical old school airport. It’s an old airport, but convenient enough with all necessary things in place. Best part is entering and exiting the airport without any traffic. Short, quick and precise TSA lines. Very kind and helpful TSA staff. Taking a taxi is convenient. Adjacent parking garage on 3rd floor has a dedicated section for Taxi pickup. Makes it easy for us to carry luggage through elevator and it’s not too far. Would choose SNA over LAX for a quick travel.
A very pleasant and easy going departure experience at John Wayne Airport. The airport is well organised, compact, and incredibly easy to navigate, making the whole process feel smooth and stress free compared to larger airports I have been using like LAX. Many travellers highlight how quickly you can move through security and reach your gate without long waits. The atmosphere is calm and efficient, with friendly and helpful staff throughout the terminal, which really adds to the overall experience. The airport clean and well maintained, contributing to a comfortable departure environment. There’s a good selection of food courts and dining options available, offering enough variety to suit most travellers while waiting for their flight. Despite being smaller than major hubs, it still provides everything you need without feeling overcrowded. Overall, a very well run airport that delivers a relaxed, efficient, and enjoyable departure experience ideal for anyone looking to avoid the stress of larger, busier airports.
First time ever flying into Santa Ana and John Wayne Airport, and it was wonderful. Very much liked the less crowds in comparison to LAX. Very laid back and smaller than expected. Easy to locate ride share pickup. Would love to fly back in here again!
Traveling to London from John Wayne Airport was such a smooth and pleasant experience. From the moment we arrived, everything felt organized, clean, and calm — not overwhelming like larger airports. Security was efficient, the staff was friendly, and the atmosphere felt relaxed yet professional. I love how convenient and easy it is to navigate — you’re not walking miles just to get to your gate. The seating areas are comfortable, and there are great food and coffee options to grab something before boarding. It’s the perfect way to begin a long international journey. Starting our London adventure from John Wayne Airport made the whole trip feel stress-free and elevated from the very beginning. If you’re flying out of Orange County to head across the pond 🇬🇧 — this airport is a beautiful, convenient choice to start your journey. ✨ A smooth takeoff sets the tone for a beautiful arrival.
A very small airport with friendly and helpful staff. During the TSA “uprising” lol in March 2026, I arrived three hours early only to find a security line of maybe 5 people, and the only flight at my gate was mine… three hours later. It honestly felt more like a backyard airport than a full-scale commercial one. The whole experience was unusually calm and easy, which I didn’t mind at all. It seems like a lot of private flights operate out of here, with all types of planes coming and going, which adds to that smaller, more local feel. From what I gathered, there aren’t a ton of direct flights to many cities, but the ones that do exist are pretty convenient. My flight to Atlanta was one of the few direct options, which definitely worked in my favor. Overall, a smooth and surprisingly pleasant experience, especially if you’re used to the chaos of larger airports.
