Dr. Tung Nguyen had been treating me for 9-10 years for my heart and high blood pressure but during that time, he has never prescribed me any pill, made any regimen changes, and had nothing remarkable of note or any concerns. I recently was diagnosed with lung cancer and was hospitalized at Orange Coast Memorial for coughing blood. Dr. Tung Nguyen was my assigned cardiologist and all of a sudden I seemed to be having all sorts of issues that he had not once brought up during the 9-10 years I have been seeing him? He told the oncologist and pulmonologist that I may have a risk of a heart attack if they did a lung biopsy due to a blockage in my heart and that I may not be able to tolerate the anesthesia and may die. If this was such an issue why did he never bring this up in his office appointments?! He was covering his own ass and it scared the other pulmonologist in doing a more conservative approach in taking my lung biopsy and the results were inconclusive. Having had lung cancer, my time is running out, I went to another hospital to get a second opinion and to get better treatment. The cardiologist cleared me for biopsy and surgery, my stress test went well, and they were miles better than Dr. Nguyen! I was able to get the biopsy with no issue and they even said my blood pressure regimen was not even meeting guideline goals or controlling my blood pressure well! I am fed up with Dr. Nguyen's incompetence, him delaying my treatment at OCM, and this is not the first time he has made the wrong call! My cousin came to him for a cardiology consult because he would experience shortness of breath when working out or walking up a hill. Dr. Tung Nguyen told him his issues are all in his head and he didn't have any cardiac issues. My cousin got a second opinion at Hoag and they did a CT scan and saw a 90% blockage in his main arteries, so he needed to have a stent! If he had listened to Dr. Nguyen and didn't get a second opinion he could have died!! Morale of the story, if you care about your loved ones or your health, do NOT get treatment with Dr. Tung Nguyen! He is incompetent, has terrible beside manner, and is only interested in charging insurance with as many office visits as he can! -David L

Very disrespectful and unhelpful receptionists. It seems they are unable to provide patience or compassionate care for patients because they have so many to get through. This is disappointing, as this is a much-needed specialty service for the many Vietnamese patients in the area who need a Vietnamese-speaking cardiologist. I hope the doctor is aware of how his clinic is being run and how his patients are being treated by his staff.

I have had circulatory problems for 30 years, and cardiac disease for 20. Though I have only just begun to work with Dr. Nguyen and his remarkable staff; I can state quite definitely that Dr. Nguyen is the most competent and thorough doctor I have ever worked with. His level of excellence shows not only in him and his practice, but also in the appearance of his office, the quality of his staff, and the advanced equipment he uses. I have never had to wait for more than a few minutes to be seen. The office staff are wonderful and both professional and friendly. Dr. Nguyen explains things very clearly, and truly listens to his patients. I would recommend him (though I hope I wouldn't have to) to my closest friends and family.

We got a mixed experience about the wait time. My sister and I take turn to bring my father there for a check up. I was there for my dad's diagnostic and waited 15'. My sister brought my dad back in the following week for the result. Appointment was 4:30pm, but she was the last call around 6pm. I earned that clients should approach the receptionist if the wait lengthened to 30'. We all have family matter to take care of, not to burn time in the waiting room.

One of my coworker has neck and back pain for the whole year. This doctor refused to treat him and force him to see a urgent care. Call the office yesterday and the doctor refused to talk to him and the assistant has very bad attitude to him.
